The Turkish Statistical Institute announced housing sales data covering the January-June 2017 period.
According to this, foreigners bought 9,595 units in the first half of the year. In the same period of the last year, the number was 9,378 units.
Following the July 15 coup attempt, foreigners’ housing purchases had fallen sharply. After the removal of VAT and the recognition of the right to citizenship in residential sales to foreigners and expatriates, sales increased again in April.
In June 2016, the number of foreign residential sales was in the level of 1,543; in the same month of this year, the corresponding figure was 1,926.
In the first 6 months of the year, foreigners bought 3,482 units from Istanbul, 2091 from Antalya and 702 from Bursa.
On the other hand, it was noted that the number of units sold to foreigners in cities other than Istanbul has decreased compared to the previous year.
