Kadir Topbaş, the Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, stated that the minibus, taxi and public bus transport system would be integrated with public transportation system. Topbaş, who said that the rail system would form the backbone of the transportation system, stated that 11 million people would use the metro as a means of transportation every day, by 2017.
The transportation system of Istanbul is being re-organized. Kadir Topbaş, the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, said that the minibuses, taxis and public buses in Istanbul would be integrated into the transport network, and that the problems of the minibus drivers would be solved with support provided on parallel routes.
11 MILLION TO USE THE METRO in ISTANBUL by 2017
Topbaş came together with Faik Yılmaz, the Chairman of the Association of the Chambers of Istanbul Craftsmen and Artisans (ISTESOB), and the chairmen of the chambers of 36 artisans’ associations which provide a service in the transportation sector.
In his speech, Topbaş stated that the rail system would form the backbone of the transportation system in Istanbul, and emphasized that 11 million people would be using the metro on a daily basis by 2017.
FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN THE MINIBUS AND THE METRO
Kadir Topbaş pointed out that a growing Istanbul needed transportation systems, and stated that minibus and taxi artisans were very important for Istanbul. Topbaş stated that they were working on integrating the minibus routes with the metro lines, and said, “Istanbul needs minibus and taxi artisans. Let us establish a system that is not just an example to the rest of Turkey, but to the whole world.”
