Ankara is getting one of the biggest exhibition and conference centers in the world. The exhibition center, which is to be built close to Esenboğa Airport, will be the fourth area after Dubai, Paris and Berlin, which is able to undertake aviation exhibitions.
Salih Bezci, the Chairman of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) and a committee of the board, met with Erdoğan Bayraktar, the Minister for the Environment and Urbanization, and gave information on the details of the project.
“Ankara to become a Brand City“, says Bayraktar
Erdoğan Bayraktar pointed to the importance of establishing a large exhibition center, befitting Ankara, and said, “We must work together to make Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey, a brand city. As the Ministry, we are ready to perform anything that is required of us within the project. I would like to congratulate the organisations who are making a contribution to such an important project in Ankara, especially ATO, as well as the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, the Ankara Special Provincial Directorate, the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, the Ankara Chamber of Industry and the Ankara Trading Exchange.”
The exhibition center, which is to be built close to the airport, in the Akyurt development area, will be comprised of 100 thousand square meters of indoor exhibition areas, and 50 thousand square meters of activity areas. Due to its close proximity to the airport, the exhibition center will be connected to the 3rd runway which is being planned. There will also be a separate exhibition area to be used in aviation exhibitions (Air-EXPO). The inspiration for the garden of tranquility within the exhibition center has come from the old Anatolian hostels, and will consist of a watering unit at the center of the courtyard and pools at different altitude levels.
