Erdoğan Bayraktar, the Minister for the Urbanization and Environment, gave information on the work of the Ministry in a television program he took part in.

Erdoğan BayraktarThe Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar said, “Real estate projects really must have both their feet firmly on the ground. For instance, they should have roads lined with trees, bicycle routes, street organisation, a renovation of the historical fabric, and development and improvement of local architecture. We will support them. We have very big residential projects in terms of the improvement and development of local architecture. This will lead to our cities flourishing more. The number of tourists will increase and a more habitable environment will be established.”

Bayraktar “We will give permission for a maximum of 5 or 6 floors above ground level.”

Minister Erdoğan Bayraktar also stated that there should not be any expectation for an increase in building permits due to urban transformation, and added, “On the instructions of our Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will give permission for a maximum of 5 or 6 storeys above ground level. In very exceptional circumstances, where there is an absolute need, we will evaluate this, and if necessary, take it to the Cabinet. Contractors are going around saying they have contacts in the Ministry, that they will increase the permits given, and asking for land. This is not the case. Our citizens should not believe these stories.”

“We have so far destroyed almost 50 thousand homes which we had deemed as dangerous in Turkey.”
