While foreigners had purchased 3 thousand 107 properties in Turkey in the first 6 months of last year, the figure in the same period of this year has more than doubled to 7 thousand 145.
Antalya takes the lead in property purchase
When the property purchases of foreigners are scrutinized, the province of Antalya stands out. Foreign investors are showing a tendency of buying more than one property and the province with the highest number of purchases is Antalya. That is followed by Istanbul, but the numbers in Antalya are double of those in Istanbul. In Istanbul, the regions which stand out the most are Esenyurt, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Avcılar and Küçükçekmece, where sales prices range from 1000 TL to 3 thousand 750 TL per square meter. While the number of people buying property had doubled when compared to last year, the number of properties being purchased had actually trebled.
The third province is Muğla and the fourth one is Aydın. These provinces are not a coincidence. If there were an opportunity to see the figures per district, it would be seen that holiday areas with a more temperate climate are leading the way. In the first six months of 2013, the holiday areas of Turkey are once again the geographical locations in which there is the most interest.
55 per cent of the independent units purchased by individuals in Turkey are in the newly developed western region of the European side of Istanbul, and the developing axes of the city are preferred due to the prices of homes sold being more reasonable. Foreigners want to invest in homes in developing areas where there is a reasonable relationship between prices and value. This information is important in terms of showing that accessible priced homes are the first preference not only in the domestic market but also in the overseas market.
