The number of domestic and foreign tourists had risen significantly, from around 300 thousand in the previous year to 450 thousand last year, and that 50 thousand of these were Arabs and other foreign tourists.
A tourism doping for Ordu
Governor of Ordu İrfan Balkanlıoğlu stated that international flights at Ordu-Giresun Airport, the first airport built on the sea in Turkey and in Europe, would begin as of 19 July and that the flight carrying the first Arab tourist group from Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, would arrive on the same date, and said, “Interest has now begun for Ordu from the Middle East and the Gulf states. Our Arab visitors, who want to see the Black Sea and its charms, will make the first trip from Riyadh. Ordu-Giresun Airport is a prestige project of Turkey. Flights have started to many points in Turkey every day since this airport was opened. We will be greeting the first direct flight departing from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, on 19 July, thanks to this airport. This has also been registered as a border crossing point by a decision of the Council of Ministers. It will now become suitable for international flights, and this in turn will clear the way in terms of tourism in Ordu.”
