According to the residential property sales statistics announced by the Turkish Statistics Authority (TUIK), while the citizens of Iraq were in first place in the month of February, with 365 property purchases, citizens of the Russian Federation were in fifth place with 88 properties.
The sales of residential properties in Turkey in February 2016, rose by 7 percent when compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 101 thousand 703. While Istanbul had the highest share of property sales with 18 thousand 142 properties, it was followed by Ankara with 10 thousand 694 and Izmir with 6 thousand 480. On the other hand, the cities with the lowest number of sales were Ardahan with 3, Şırnak with 10 and Hakkari with 11.
One thousand 585 properties sold to foreign nationals in February
The sales of residential properties to foreign nationals rose by 15,8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching one thousand 585. Istanbul was again in first place in this area in February 2016, with 555 properties being sold. The city of Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 328 properties and Bursa with 141 properties.
Russian interest in properties in Antalya has not fallen
The citizens of Iraq bought 365 residential properties from Turkey in February. Iraq was followed by Kuwait with 159, Saudi Arabia with 158, Afghanistan with 141 and the Russian Federation with 88 properties.
Russians are in first place in the sales of properties to foreign nationals in Antalya. Deniz Karataş, the Chairman of the Federation of All Building Contractors, said that more than 300 properties were being sold to foreign nationals in Antalya every month, and that as always, the highest number of foreign buyers were the Russians. The TUIK data shows that 315 properties were sold to foreign nationals in the city in January, while this figure was 328 in February, a significant part of which was to Russians.
